Insurance Claim Questions & After Filing The Claim

No. Hail Damage is considered an act of God by most insurance companies and does not affect your future rates. However, if your vehicle gets hail-damaged repeatedly, these claims may affect your premiums later. Ask your insurance company for their policies regarding this.
Evident PDR will notify the insurance company if we feel the estimate is written for the wrong type of repair or written light. You do not have to get involved with this process in most cases. Evident PDR will re-write the estimate or create a supplement for the insurance company to approve.
Paintless Dent Repair is the most cost-effective and recommended repair method for fixing hail damage according to manufacturers, dealerships, insurance companies, and repair facilities. When your adjustor looks at the severity of your hail damage, they will write the estimate to be repaired one of two ways, or a combination on the two.

1. The Paintless Dent Removal method [PDR] involves a skilled technician gently massaging your dents out from the underside of the body panel.

2. The traditional body shop method requires that the dents are straightened, filled, and the body panels repainted. Sometimes the damage is so severe that the panels will need to be replaced.

If possible, the PDR method is recommended so that your original factory finish can be preserved. PDR repairs generally take 1-5 days to complete. Traditional repairs usually take 1-3 weeks. Any vehicles with severe damage to hoods, roofs, and fenders where the part needs to be replaced and/or painted should expect an additional 1-4 weeks for repairs.
After you file your claim and have a claim number you can bring your car to Evident PDR for repair. The insurance company will likely ask to look at your car; However, bringing it into the shop is in your best interest. Most insurance companies will provide a lower estimate for repair than what is actually required: either because they evaluated it in the sun, instead of inside, where the glare can cause dents to be missed, or They will write an estimate low with the expectation the customer will keep the money without repairing the vehicle. We help to make sure this doesn't happen by providing a certified estimate by one of our technicians.

**It is estimated that between 50 to 70% of hail damage claims are not repaired. The insurance companies take advantage of this knowledge. This saves them from having to pay the actual damage cost to the vehicle and can save them hundreds of millions of dollars yearly. If it is economically feasible for your situation and vehicle’s worth, it is best to have the repairs done. This will help ensure a fair settlement.
